Anyone?

What's it like?

I know they've been active there for over a year, so hoping their service is good in that area. Would be great if some customers could confirm.

(Deciding whether to go with Neotel or MTN 3G).

For now mate get 3G, Neotel does rock but their network has some serious issues

Go 3G dude - Neotel suck, dont waste your money, you will have Internet on 20% of the time and no where near they claimed speeds.

I'm in the Tokai area using Neotel. Their service at the moment is up and down with average download speeds of between 30Kb/s - 35Kb/s. And when they feel like being generous I get the occasional 100Kb/s - 140Kb/s (just wish it would stay at that speed).

Thanks.

Is the service reliable though? Do you have much downtime? Speed wouldn't be an issue.

Nope , they are not reliable ...
And they have lots of downtime ...
Speed is not an issue if you like to crawl at dialup speed ....

I'd rather hear from people in Tokai, Cape Town, as it may be a more stable area since it was once of the first areas Neotel started working on in CT. I hope. :D

it depends...im connected to the wynberg tower from claremont and generally get a stable 160KB at the moment. I am using a YAGI which i think has influenced my connection. Occasionally when there strong winds, rain and time of day it get a bit slower.

Sounds good in terms of reliability. Will look into upgrading to a YAGI if the connection isn't good.

I'm guessing that Neotel will do a in-house test before signing up?

Dude, I've said it before and I'm going to say it just for you.

STAY AWAY!

Don't start posting here once you start having issues and expect sympathy!!!
I've personally WARNED you myself!

I don't understand Neotel. One of my clients is in Pollsmoor road. According to Neotel's, coverage map there is coverage all around except for an island of about 50m diameter with no coverage. Two guesses where they find themselves.
If you look at their map it is full of little 'no coverage' holes.
