Ok, our group can not get by him for some reason. I have heard that a Discpline Priest is the way to go, my question is how.

Disc shields would absorb the outgoing Blood Nova damage without giving Saurfang Blood Power, however i'm not sure if they de-nerfed it after last patch kinda broke that feature ;)

Rather work out why you're failing by running down your tactics and providing logs and rundowns of the events

yeha liek psy sed, whe also use disc priests fro shields to absorb rather.

there is a cheap tactic of doing him.

First off i take it u mean 25 man.

Let the first mark die no matter who it is unless its a tank.

2nd one u cast di from a pally on and make sure a pally have soulstone on.

the 3rd one u just beacon on and 4th the same, boss should be dead before 4th one with this tactic even with ****ty dps.

ok, this is a 10 man group. 2 shadow priests, one hunter, Pally tank, DK tank, pally and DK DPS, holy priest, druid healer, shammy DPS/healer if needed. If our priest changed to Disc, who should he PW:S? We seem to be killing the adds fast but cannot get boss down. When tanks get the Rune of Blood they switch taunts and back off.

The disc priest should shield those people who get the blood dot. He should also keep shielding the tank that is getting hit and anyone who may get hit by a fiend thing. You do not need a priest to do this in 10 man, your raid must be doing something wrong. Is the DK putting chains on adds, are all ranged dps slowing and dpsing adds?

Most importantly, you cannot afford to have more than 2 healers on Saurfang.
2 Shadow Priests aren't ideal due to the lack of burst dps, but mind flay is useful to slow a beast down.

You could try have the DK cast Chains on eg the Left Beast, then all ranged DPS nukes the Right. When the Beast comes close to the beasts the hunter (positioned away from the priests) can 'taunt' it, giving the ranged dps more time to get the beast down before it touches someone.

Hunter's slow trap and Shaman's Earthbind totem also helps alot.
Hope that helps!

You really need to supply more information here.

How did you come to believe its the priest's spec that causes your failure?
What exactly is happening?
Are the tanks not staying alive?
Are the adds hitting ppl like crazy and Bloodfang gets off so many marks you just can keep up healing the marked people?

Explain to us the actual problem and we might be able to help.

As a possible solution, our guilds MOST OPTIMAL setup in 10man. (best outcome to date)
Pally and Warrior tank, Shaman and Paladin heals, Rogue Warrior Pally melee-DPS, Hunter Boomkin Mage ranged-DPS.

Tanks taunt off with Rune of Blood immediately, they need to watch the cooldown on it in DBM, and KNOW when its coming.
Melee DPS behind boss just burn-fest.
Ranged DPS: Boomkin roots left add, ranged kills right add, hunter kiting with distracting, disengage, etc.
Heals assigned as Pally -> Tanks and Mark of Fallen target.
Shammy as raid heals if/when necessary, helping on tanks.

Saurfang got off 1 (ONE, yes ONE) Mark of Fallen, he was down by the time he reached 20% runic power towards second mark.
Melee dps needs to be Johny-on-the-spot with their dps, top notch as it were. No concecrates or any such aoe should be down when beasts spawn.
Tanks need to remove/replace any glyphs that would cause multi-target aggro, and not use any aoe aggro abilities like concecrate AT ALL.
Pally tanks can use Hammer of Righteous, only if beasts arent about to spawn.
Tanks need to gear avoidance for this fight, swop out some trinkets especially. This is not a stamstack fight.
Ranged need to NEVER EVER EVER be hit by the beasts. EVER. Also make sure DMB is set for "/range 12" so that they do not bounce the blood debuffs for more runic power on saurfang.
Pally healer should beacon the second tank and heal as such until first Mark of Fallen goes out. Beacon that person instead and he will stay alive. Shammy needs to start helping more on tanks now.

This is not to say that any of these classes are REQUIRED to down Saurfang at all. Merely our best setup so far.
Most of our setups we kill him by the time he reaches 2 Marks of Fallen and about 30% runic towards the next one.

It is extremely important for nobody other than tanks to get hit by anything as much as possible.
Even the tanks need to re-trinket and gear (if available) for avoidance instead of Stam for this.
Each time he hits a tank he gains runic power. Each time he hits a tank that is debuffed with Rune of Blood he gains runic power x2 AND HEALS HIMSELF for 5k.

It just takes a lot of practice for ranged to learn how to manage those adds and not get hit.

take a boomkin they pushback the adds and you have no rogue the, muti rogues love to dps that boss.

tank dont really need to go heavy avoidance it does work yes, he can be nuked before the first mark this sis the setup we use.

Tank: warr and dk both stam stacked.

Healers: 1 priest and druid or pally

melee Dps: ench shammy, rogue, unholy dk(shammy use slowtotem)

Range.IN the middle we have boomkin. left mage, right hunter

Only real problem I can see here is is the hunter using aimed shot and keeping it up,and are the ranged spread out 8yards at least?

we found doing it on 10 we kept hitting enrage, rolled our one healer onto dps and he went down like a cheap whore. i tend to just bubble the tanks and kiters as a disc priest in the fight to limit the amout of blood power he generates

My guild also failed on Saurfang a few times before we finally got him down. We use DK tank and Druid tank, 2 melee dps who stand on top of each other behind saurfang at all times, its usually a dk and pally, then 4 ranged being a hunter, mage, boomkin, shadow priest sometimes the boomkin gets replaced with a lock, depending on which range dps is coming for that run and then 2 healers, pally and shaman.

We have two range on either side, spread apart /range 10, so each set of range are responsible for adds. hunter uses traps etc, sometimes our pally healer stuns an add, and both dk's try do that icy chain thing, also earthbound totem. Popping hero at the beginning also seems to help, at least when we do it.

Now on to Festergut..still trying to sort out the kinks there with that fugly thing ;p

Few things that helped us

Dropping to 2 healers. Our Holy priest always goes Disc.

Tanks glyph for taunt we used to get quite a few resists towards the end of the fight, with the glyph we have no problems.

Tank that doesnt have aggro stays dps on boss just watching his aggro and range taunts adds as they pass the bottom of the stairs, this buys the ranged dps a few valuable sec's and they have to move less. Tanks must just make sure he has targeted add and not boss ;)

In order to troubleshoot your problem, download an addon called loggerhead. It enables/disables writing your log to a text file depending on zones - tell it to log all 10man/25man raids and disable rest.
Then, create an account at www.worldoflogs.com, download their client, setup your wow folder and then upload your log (tell it to archive and delete old log).

I am sure they just failing on tactics, most likely the tanks are tanking the blood fiends (adds) and giving the boss to much runic power. Or they really **** geared and failing on dps.

Ok, have downloaded the addon loggerhead and signed up on the website. Tonight we do our 10 man raid, we normally one shot up to Saurfang, hope the log shows what is going wrong if we fail again. Thanks for all the help.

How on earth do you battle on this tool.

Step 1. Have your melee stack up on each side of him, with tanks stacking on each other to his front

Step 2. Have your ranged spread out in a Pattern that ensures none of them is 10 yards from one another, but still all can reach the tank/boss

Step 3. 5 seconds before the blood beasts spawn, have a hunter lay a frost trap AT Saurfangs feet. they will then be slowed alowing the RANGED to kill them quickly

Step 6. If the adds are reaching the ranged DPS, have a boomkin or elemental shaman push them right back to keep up the DPS. Do NOT let them attack you, the tanks or melee

Step 7. To help out with magic damage, have your unholy DK's use pestilence as soon as they spawn to spread Ebon Plague

Step 8. Kill the bugger

It depends on your raids gear really, I normally solo heal this as the dmg output before the first Mark is laughable so we kill him before he's able to get one up.

Your tanks should gear avoidance for this fight as every hit a tank takes adds to the Blood Power counter (once it reaches 100, the mark etc.). Everytime an add hits someone, it adds to the counter etc. Everytime someone takes dmg really etc.

Constantly having a Disc Priest shielding anyone with a dot and the tanks will help you get a lot further into the fight before a Mark is cast.
