When I last looked (2 months ago) the only real WiMAX connection suppliers in SA were:-

Screamer (the company I went with)
iBurst - mainly into the corporate market and very expensive
Telkom - only where there is no ADSL available and when they have stock.

ICASA allowed MWeb and IS to conduct experiments with WiMAX but they are not able to sell any services commercially untill they get their own spectrum.

Thats all I know.

MWEB has supposedly announced a WiMax service recently (around the end of May 2010) but I can't see anything on their site about it. It is not that cheap either - R1300 for 512K.

As for the rest of these, none seem to actually be selling the service other than Screamer. Neotel are trialing it (read - wait a few years) and Vodacom only seem to offer for businesses.

Yes, I looked at all these, and either this one do not have coverage in my area , or that one is for business, which is unaffordable.
So I took the chance with Screamer, and got it installed yesterday. So far so good, did all my updates and even played a couple of games of MW2, with no issues.

I really do hope that we can get some competition in the Wimax arena as well!!
