I forgot about this, but remembered just in time.

As you might be aware ICASA are busy looking into the procedure were Cellphone users can move to different providers, but keep their number - For example if you were 082 123 (Vodacom) you could move to MTN or Cell-C and still have that number

Now here is the important part, THIS NEEDS TO BE DONE WITH FIXED LINE

That way when the SNO does come along people do not have to worry about losing their number, which is the phone book, Yellow pages and so on

Dragonlogos, 100% correct. This issue has been debated since as far back as 1995. I think ICASA will recommend this (its called "number portability"), but the question is really "what will the MoC stance be?"

I think the MoC will be under enormous pressure to allow number portabilty, as to not do so is to virtually condemn the SNO to failure bfire they have even had a chance to get off the ground.

There is a side-line of thought that indicates that SNO specific numbers will be shown off with pride by any company using the SNO's service.

I.E. - People will subconciously smile when dialiing an SNO telephone number.
