Signal Unavailable on SSHD channel

Hi All

I have a new HD pvr 2P decoder and get all the channels except SSHD and SSHDX. All other channels including MnetHD and DiscoveryHD seem to be working fine.

I live in a complex and have tried two different setups, single LNB to a two-way splitter and LNB directly to decoder, but still do not get signal on the SSHD channels. When using the splitter some other channels e.g. mnet, mm1, ss1 and ss2 are also unavailable. However, I do get signal on MnetHD and DiscoveryHD using either setup.

The puzzling thing is that the SSHD channel was working perfectly last week (up until rescanning the network yesterday). Also, when checking the signal status on channel 171 the signal strength and quality are 98% and 100% respectively.

I would appreciate any suggestion as Multichoice does not seem to have any.

Try resetting the decoder. Other than that it should be a problem on Multichoice side.

Hi Herman, for what it is worth, my sister had a problem getting the Crime channel. All the other channels were fine, signal strength and quality almost 100%. At first I thought well, it can't be the LNB or dish alignment, because of the excellent signal quality.
I then remember something I read a while ago on the Net about LNB skew. I re-adjusted the LNB and sure enough she got the Crime channel!
Signal quality and strength still looked the same after the re-alignment.
Seems it is possible that some channels have a slightly weaker signal?? Not sure, I am guessing. The guys who are more knowledgeable can maybe answer that for us.

What kind of system do they have in the complex? Do you have to add any additional settings to make the channels on the horizontal frequencies work?

Not entirely sure what kind of system we have in the complex. Settings for the home network are as follows: LNB Power: off; freq: 11594; Symbol rate:27500; Fec 5/6; Use Nit: yes.

I might be wrong but I think I also had to add 6 additional networks with the settings substantially the same as above but on 6 different frequencies (11210 Mhz, 11250, 11290, 11330, 11370, 11410) and a symbol rate of 30 000.

Okay... That helps a lot. You have a single cable system. The complex probably needs an extra processor at the head-end, which is the main distribution equipment somewhere in your building. You have to speak to the body corp to get this done. They need to speak to the original installer, or get a new installer who knows these systems.
