Jailbreak iOS 4 On 3GS New Bootrom (Finally)

Thats pretty cool!

How do you like ios4? I am thinking about waiting a while until I upgrade because I have heard that not all the apps can multi-task,is this true? If that is the case I would rather stick with 3.1.2 and use the jail-broken multitasking.

I think the folders is really cool and it looks like it owns the Jailbroken categories app which I do not like to much.

The problem with not upgrading is that some app's dont work on older OS's which is now becoming quite a big issue for me so I am going to have to upgrade sooner or latter.

What phone do you have? If it's a 3GS definitely go for it! You will get multitasking, a speed increase and a lot of features. If it's a 3G, you might wanna think twice, some people are reporting that it's slower. Others say it's fine. Don't worry about apps which don't work on iOS 4, they are few and far between now.

I have the 3gs,if I backup my devise then jailbreak using Sn0wbreeze 1.6 will all my(cracked apps) automatically be put back onto the devise after I have installed the required apps from cydia of coarse?

Also if the jailbreak goes stale will I be able to go back to 3.1.2 with my SHSH blobs or do you need to have a jail-broken devise to downgrade?

The reason I ask is because when I upgraded to 3.1.2 blackrain never worked on my devise,I tried every trick in the book with no luck so I had to wait for RedSn0w to release their jailbreak.

Oh, cracked apps. Well some of them are probably not the latest version, and therefore might not work, until you get the latest version, cracked. Also you will have to backup your JB apps manually, I think, there is a cydia app for backing up cydia apps :P.

You should be able to go back to 3.1.2 with the SHSH blobs, but I'm not 100% sure.

Ye you know all those apps you cant get in SA so you have to download them by other means :P But don't worry I donate the money to the company if the app(like field runner) Is good ;)

Thanks for the info,I will do a bit of research and maybe wait for a red snow release for the 3gs because I love those okes :)

@Justinmw, Hey Man.... Just a quick question... Are you experiencing the sleep bug? I have read through that entire forum you posted and it seems that everyone is experiencing this problem.
There is a fix for it... they are just waiting for it to be posted?

Thanks Man!

Hey Nixxon There iS a Fix, One thing im battling on tho is this after restoring to 3.1.2 did you use blackrain and jailbreak it or just carry on with the tutorial ????

Hey Justin,

I haven't done this as yet... I wanted to know if you were able to get IOS 4.0 to run on your 3GS (New Boot Rom) Jailbroken and unlocked :)
I am a little cautious to attempt this without knowing that the result I am looking for is in fact possible :)

If so, how are you finding it? Does it work well? Speed wise? Is it untethered?

Thanks man :D

its tethered (like blackra1n) for now, which really doesnt bother me and im finding it good, only thing now is apps need to hurry up and start supporting OS 4 thts the only complaint, check this new tutorial that included the fix to the sleep bug.......

@Justinmw, Thanks dude :) Looks good, yeah been reading the new tut and seems to be working for most :) I think I am going to attempt this tonight... how long did it take you? Did you find it easy enough? Any advice/challenges?
@Eot, to my knowledge and after reading for a while now... if you are on the old boot rom then you don't need to worry about going to all this hassle... you can probably just use spirit, but that is only if you don't need to unlock because spirit is not a carrier unlock, otherwise check out some other JB's you have way more options on the old boot rom ;)

I hope there's a solution if the iPhone is already upgraded to v4.0 (new bootrom) and does not have backups (SHSH) on Cydia.
I jailbroke my wifes iPhone for her a while back, strict instructions not to ever upgrade/update...what does she come crying to me the other day...."Baby, I forgot and upgraded...please help me?" Grrrrrrr!!!!!

Hi Gamer,

Need more info, are you saying your wife upgraded her phone to V4.0 through Itunes but you need to Jailbreak because you need to do a carrier unlock?
Was she on a Jailbreak on a previous version?

Having the phone plugged into my PC every time I boot is hardly viable. I'll wait for a proper jailbreak.

Basically she kept whinging that she didn't have SMS delivery reports, SMS character counter and a few other things (iPhone is unlocked - local Vodacom). I dug into the whole jailbreak scene and eventually when a untethered jailbreak for 3.1.3 (new bootrom) was released (Spirit I think) in early May, I did it for her. She loaded lots of apps and stuff off Cydia and she was very happy. That was until she upgraded to v4.0 this week though iTunes. We have her SHSH backups on PC, but never backed up to Cydia servers or whatever. She's now stuck and we're trying to find either a way to downgrade to 3.1.3 again or have an untethered jailbreak for v4.0 (which she is already on now).

I hope this provides more info, thanks.

Well hopefully you can get a jailbreak to just get those delivery reports. Apple have added character counting finally as an option to SMS!

Ok, a couple of possible solutions...
Firstly, if you were running on Jailbroken 3.1.3 with spirit, when connecting to itunes, did she ever do a backup of her phone? Because it may be just as simple as restoring it to a previous backup when everything was all happy :)
Alternatively, in my readings on this topic, I came across and answer to SHSH blobs being stored on Cydia automatically, now I am not certain that is the case, but you may be in luck...

Otherwise, I would try things like this vid http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=QgjUnSmKsHs , you are always bound to find a solution to your exact problem on youtube :)

Give me a shout if you need more help.. GL

K iH8sn0w released his new snowbreeze (1.7) and a new jailbreak method check it out....now includes the fix for the sleep bug, iH8sn0w is working on a jailbreak for members who do now have the SHSH blobs saved so be patcient
