My Choice Topup - International Roaming

Hi,

Does anyone know if international roaming is available on My Choice Topup?

It is not available on MyChoice TopUp due to the essentially prepaid nature of the package.

The best choice still for anybody going overseas (contract and prepaid) is to buy a local prepaid SIM when you arrive at your destination. Take your personal phone with and insert this SIM.

You can then supply this number to your key contacts in SA; enjoy local call rates and cheaper interntional dialling; check your SA voicemail box once per day to return messages; make use of local promotions and network features.
 
USSD while roaming

In order to use USSD on a foreign network, you must already have the capability of roaming and registering on that network. Unfortunately it is that exact roaming capability which is used in the subscriber profile on the HLR to prevent prepaid users from roaming.
 
Yes... I understand the need to have an established roamer profile in order to authenticate.
You advocate the use of a foreign sim, while I say USSD call back functionality is a better solution to the end user.
It is after all a consumer driven market not so? And the aim is to make money off of a subscriber, not so?
 
We are definitely looking into a solution for MyChoice Topup roaming (which is technically speaking prepaid roaming) and try to offer the services which best match user requirements.

We have tried the USSD callback for the *111# service. Our subscribers overseas wanting to access their voicemail use this number. MTN then phones them and relays their voicemail messages. This has definitely been a huge success because the calls are quicker, the password to access is not necessary and the call costs are more manageable. This gives us experience in assessing what other types of callback service would make the most sense.

I don't get it...
MTN should be advocating prepaid roaming...
