    yeah and note the "starting at" the top spec is gonna be a lot more than 5k!

    Overall though, the prices have come down, the 8 core is cheaper than the previous gen. But I guess we're at the mercy of core as usual.

    The apple compares very well with an Intel equivalent from Dell.

    damn... you'll need to take out a loan! why can't apple introduce a midrange without xeons and ecc ram? would be affordable for some people at least.

    Yeah I figured that, but there are those who would like the easy access to parts and upgrades the mac pro offers. If the screen fails on the imac(rare I know) you need to fork out.

    Yeah agreed, but they do at least now have a single processor mac pro option.
