The title says it all - a lot of the stuff I do revolves around typing mails, or documentation during a meeting - a touch screen is not gonna cut it. I'm essentially moving to android from an HTC Touch Pro 2 (Windows Mobile).

It would help if the phone was part of a Vodacom Contract, but not a trainsmash if it's not.

Any suggestions and pointers would be a great help - thanks in advance for any advice rendered.

Motorola Milestone. But it's pretty dated compared to the latest full touchscreen phones. Motorola is working on a new QWERTY phone but no idea if/when there will be a GSM version for us.
A full touchscreen isn't bad of it's on a decent sized screen. I hated it on my Nokia 5800 but on my Galaxy S I'm happy with it.

also thought so...but you get used to the touch screen pretty quick...i have swype installed...i will type on my touch screen faster than you can on a keyboard(phone) :)

check it out!!!

Problem is this - I need to touch type - not stare at the device while typing... have been doing this since the nokia E61, the the HTC Tytn II, and now the Touch Pro - which is the primary reason for wanting a tactile feedback device.
