Cell C’s 21 Mbps mobile broadband pricing: Fireworks may be expected

Just to give some background to the information we received:

According to the ‘disputed’ documentation we received Cell C will be offering an E 1752 (Huawei E1752) modem with the broadband standard package and an E 1820 (Huawei E 1820) modem with the broadband advanced package.

The Huawei E1752 supports speeds up to 7.2Mbps (download) and up to 5.76 Mbps (upload) while the Huawei E 1820 is an HSPA+ modem which supports speeds of 21 Mbps.

Cell C says that there are some inaccuracies in the ‘pamphlet’, but did not want to say what information is incorrect in the article (if any). All this information should therefore be considered to be speculation, although I hope that it is accurate as it will be a great offer :D

Wow. Holds thumbs.

7.2Mbps @ R999/24gigs (spread over 12 months) = R41.62 a gig(including free dongle)
21Mbps @ R1999/60gigs (spread over 12 months) = R33.31 a gig(including free dongle)

If they can launch it with decent coverage it would be the package to get for most average home usage. Enough to browse the web and check email, but stay off some of the heavier streaming video sites. Still, a very good deal for the majority of people (if true).

I think if Cell-C REALLY wants to stir up the residential mobile data market right at it's core... Then its time for Affordable Uncapped.

That said, if the speculations hold any water, it would sure be nice to see mobile data at under R50/GB.

This could only be very good for the consumers (vc and mtn). This is nearly in the Mweb uncapped launch league in terms of potential game changer.

I agree. If the documentation is indeed accurate I think many people will jump ship from Vodacom/MTN to take advantage of the Cell C offer. I for one hope to see Cell C enter the market with a bang, and an offer like the one described in the article will certainly qualify :D

Looks like august is going to be a bumper month.

Hopefully at some point in the next two weeks we will find out that our adsl speeds have inched somewhat closer to mobile. Is a non stuttering youtube video too much to ask?

I want to C this for myself, or:
C-ing is believing

Now we wait the playing game once more.

errr....

Now we play the waiting game once more :o :D

If true, then it'll be a paradigm shift in the market. If true, may CellC take a large chunk of the market.

I'm on CellC as well. Rooting for them.

Go, Go, Go!!! :D

Really great to see they have decided from the start not to burn their fingers and lose customers due to OOB usage bill shock on contract.

Wow, if true, this will be R200 cheaper than standard home ADSL packages. The big remaining question is COVERAGE. EDGE/GRPS just won't cut it.

I won't exactly be jumping on the bandwagon. If past history is anything to by, I don't think so.

The price might be right, but how reliable is the network?
