Hi all,

Looking for Bad Company 2 Non-Disc Version, Steam the best option?
Have a 384 line as well, will this suffice for such a download? Don't want to buy the game then unable to download due to slow connection.

5.4 GB :( not good, k, will prolly buy the disc.

Cheers

You can buy the game with the DVD,when installing you can choose the online verivication which allows you to play without the disc.

You will still need to update your game which is about 3GB.or you can ask one of your friend who have updated their BFBC2 version to copy the Dist folder in the BFBC2 directory then put it on a cd for you.just replace your Dist folder with the one you got from them.

after you start the game it will just update the .exe file which is small then u can play.thats how i did mine when i had a slow connection.

5.4gb on a 384 is like 30hrs downloading & cap isn't that expensive anymore.

Bought it from Take 2, tried to find updates / patches to download in the meantime, not getting any?

the latest one did however come in manual form since it caused a lot of people to fail on the auto downloader.

yeah, 900MB's

just mentioning it for Barry cause I know how frustrated some people got when theirs crashed every time.

From what I could find, it seems like WA's been trying to get that Steam server up for almost a year and no clear indication as to when it will be operational, is this correct?

I can't help but compare this whole scenario to Winston sticking it to Telkom, in this case it's prolly a white '97 Isuzu delivery van sticking it to SA's broadband infrastructure?

1. Buy Physical Game (R325) + Courier (R60) + 7 Delivery Days = R385
2. Buy Online Version (R218) + Internet Cost (R299) + Probability of dropped connection downloading 5.4Gb via 384 line (100%) = R517

or am I missing something?

as far as I know, they had it running. they even had it as part of their FreeZone, but that has stopped.

not sure if they still have it going as normal or not, although I think some mentioned that they still allow the stuff they have cached to be downloaded, but nothing new.

well you can also always buy the digital and then ask some1 you might know who has downloaded the digital version for a copy.

if you need a hand just shout. recently got 4meg so won't be hassle there.

I am in the PTA area.

well at +-R20 for postage and 2 DVD's, it shouldn't be too difficult.

so the option is there if you wanna go for it.

well I played again yesterday and still see nothing has changed.

would want to get my 50 rank, but atm all that fuels my playing, is to get awards (wasn't nearly the case with BF2 back in the days)

You saying BFBC2 isn't as good as BF2?
Played BF2 till my eyes went square as well.

not that it isn't as good as BF2, but to me and a lot of others, it has lost its appeal way too quickly.

sure, each to his own, but that is from my (our) experience.

also the fact that the net coding in BC seems to be extremely dodgy, as 1 round you could own and the next you can hardly hit the tree in front of you (and that is with aiming :) )

if the money spent on it won't harm you, then go for it, as I am sure they will get to fixing the MAIN issues sooner or later (hopefully sooner)

I had about 800hours on BF2 when I stopped playing, and I wasn't even close to the final rank.

I have about 250hours on BC2 and I am almost rank 50.

If you want ot get this game you can purchase CD key on gamersloot for cheap man!
