Verizon has MPLS nodes in CT & JHB and in most larger cities in Europe.
What about Neotel's MPLS offerings? if you need someone to chat to I have contact details. pvt msg me if you are still interested.
Neotel, via Tata, own approximately 60% of all the undersea cables in the world... food for thought![]()

Hi everyone,
I'm doing research for MPLS pricing in South Africa. Indeed it has not been an easy search on the Internet. I'm not familiar with South Africa's network infrastructure and not sure if E3 or DS3's are used and similarly if T1's or E1's are used. I'm interesting in getting estimated costs for an E3 in Johannesburg and E1's (or 2xE1's) in Uganda, Kenya, etc.
Does anyone have a source or idea on the costs?
Any input is greatly appreciated.
Cheers!
Contact MTN Business.
Speak to a senior account manager.
MTN is the only SA company (that I know of) that has an Africa-wide IP network.
They cover most African countries (at least the ones that matter).
I used them for connectivity + voice between JHB, Burkina Faso, Ghana, Mali, Tanzania.
Connectivity from/between the above mentioned countries improved 500x times after moving to MTN.
The Micky-Mouse up-country ISP's who ask top $ for useless service are never worth the effort.
Be prepared to invest in Cisco routers all the way.
MTN also provides an automated ADSL backup (where applicable).
Telkom would be my very last choice (terrible service / poor to no feedback/communication).
If your sites are out in the sticks then I'd suggest C-band VSAT.
It's expensive but super reliable.
I have a contact in Ghana who installs/supports C-Band VSAT (with free voice thrown in) all over Africa.
Thank you very much bubbatentoe. I appreciate your input. Would you happen to know the average costs of an E3 and E1's are in SA? I'll reach out to MTN based on your input regarding service and support as well. Good to know.
You will have to get a custom price for VPN services as there are a lot of variables involved.
