Neotel NeoBroadband Fibre 15 Mbps: Fair Use Policy

“The approach will be to apply a progressive rate limit at a very high download (we mean very high), but not to apply a hard cap at all,” said Hay.
I wouldn't be surprised if they believe a business downloading between 50-100gig is "very high" and get rate limited. Sigh.

“NeoBroadband is a true broadband product, technically similar to leading-edge fibre broadband services around the world, offering cost-effective, best effort broadband Internet access with peak rates up to 15 Mbps,” said Hay.
Simply false.

Interesting that they chose 'rate limiting' instead of 'throttling' to describe their policy...

Lets wait and see what they have in store here for us, lets say eg. they give us upto 7.5MBps , thats still cheaper and better than existing products out on the market and you don't get hardcapped so as someone suggested on the first thread, if one can use this in a apartment with lots of people, it will be very feasible :)

Uncapped, FUP this are 2 words that cannot be used in one sentence

What does it mean? You have Unlimited but don’t use it?

So here is a 3gig capped product lets sell it as uncapped and with a FUP which say don`t download.

WTF

Wow! Considering how expensive these packages are I should be surprised at a Fair usage policy but nothing surprises me anymore when it comes to the internet in SA. R5100 excluding VAT for a 5MB line that can be rate limited?? Neotel really aren't at the party when it comes to service delivery or competitive pricing.

Huh, a FUP is standard practice worldwide. Why the outcry, or are people just whining for the sake of it as per normal

Um, none of those products are labeled as "uncapped"... at least I can't see any among the product descriptions.

Do you have any links to prove that other "Uncapped" services in the world use such restrictive terms and conditions?
