8ta Automatic network selection not working well

I am in an area with SA02 signal (but 8ta won't connect to it of course). MTN signal fluctuates.

Lately, if a phone with 8.ta SIM card is left in the default Automatic network selection mode, it spends long periods of time with zero signal, not connected to MTN. If it is set manually to MTN, the situation is much better. It will still occasionally lose signal briefly, though.

So, on a phone, you can work around the problem by manually selecting MTN.

A friend of mine was using 8.ta in a huaweii modem for data. It worked for a while, but lately fails to connect for long periods. I wonder if this could be another symptom of the same problem? And if so, is there a way to manually select MTN on the data card in Huawei Mobile Partner? How about gings' MDMA?

And lastly, why am I the only person who has noticed this????
