Canon

Canon of course. Been using the IP3000 for about 18 months without any hassles. Lots of photo printing as well as CD printing. No problems. Excellent quality and value for money.

i have a IP4000 - great printer with no problems and xcelt quality and cost p page!!!

I were there a few weeks ago. My conclusion were that the Canon would be cheaper to run and have good quality, have 5 inks (two black)
Go for the latest IP4200 instead. It cost me R1100 at incredible (as exchange from crap microcomm ADSL modem) sure it is cheaper somewhere else
The ink cartridges of the IP3000 is cheaper as the new cartidges have a chip to improve quality and prevent exchange of catridges to different types but You can still use cheaper cartriges as a "hack"

Cannon
Autoduplexing, multiple input options, and acceptable photo and text quality as well as good economy.

What made me decide Read some of the reviews

Just got a IP4200 yesterday - already printer a bunch of dvd covers with it - works like a charm! I was quite impressed with the quality, photo prints are excellent.

I got epson, not bad really but if i had the choice i would move over to canon

would tend to agree with everyone - go Canon
All the Epson Stylus I have come across suck...
personal option

Canon 4 t3h \/\/1N!!!!

I've printer through at least 150 DVDs and I've still got ink left. :)

Is that on the original reduced level cartridges? What media do You use for printing. Stick on or direct ?

Don't touch Epson.

/sop story
They've still got a printer of mine that they could not fix.

Picture it: 7500 rands worth of printer - 2 days old - wam - printer kills itself by slamming it's head drive into it's right hand side at such high speed the printer shifts 1/2 metres on the desk, falls off the desk - jams and strips the motor's thread, burns out the motor's brushes and spews ink like crazy.

I explain to Epson that I did not drop it, and that it did that to itself. They laugh. I purchase another one, on the condition that if it does it they fix the first and refund me the other. Start processing the same job in front of them, WAMMO - same thing. ROFL ROFL ROFL. Looks of shock and surprise.

Left printer with them to fix. After around 40 calls and 4 months, told them to stick the printer up ... and bought a Cannon. Not looking back.

I have to go with the Epson R300. Although I have not compared the two printer, I have only had great results from the R300, and no problems yet.

It's the original cartridges, but I don't know if it's the reduced ones. How do you tell? I can tell you that if you only printed on CDs\DVDs, you could probably do between 200 and 250.

Hmmm, maybe I should actually count how many I've done. I'll let you know tomorrow. ;)

As for media:

/sales pitch
I only use 16x Verbatim with the printable surface for direct printing. Spindle pack of 50.
/end sales pitch :)

Let me add one more for the Epson. Have had mine for a while now and not a single problem.
CD printing is easy and it prints directly onto CDs with printable surfaces.

Canon IP4000... IM LOVING IT!
just make sure u get a seperate multi-catridge printer :)
Prints awesome photo's... has auto sheet feeder and cartridge feeder. and prints onto printable...
I also have an old epson 600... 6 years old. No problems ;)
