The once meteoric hero of the House of Microsoft is now the old and delabidated drunkard that nobody wants to touch inside Microsoft Kingdom. It seems as if the official policy of “don’t touch” has now been passed along the corridors of Microsoft HQ and Windows XP will now be left to die a slow and perhaps for most users a very painful death as new software and updates are the behest of the new hero in shiny armour, Sir Windows 7 who will enter the court of King Gates the “Retired” come October 22nd.
His brother Sir Windows Vista will still have access to nice downloads like the new Windows Movie Maker but due to his limp leg he will also soon join old grandpa Windows XP and even more tragic great grandpa Windows 98 in the annals of history as now defunct operating systems of choice for the global computing community.
I sincerely hope Microsoft remembers to send me a full copy of the final release of Windows 7 in October seeing as my Birthday is the day before its official release and I have been giving them so much press. Sure, not all of it has been great, but let’s be honest, it would be far worse not being talked about, wouldn’t it just? For what it is worth, this blog was typed on the technical preview of Office 2010 on Windows 7 RC1.
Anyways, sad day for those of us who loved the now relatively bug free Windows XP even if it isn’t virus proof at all. Windows XP is probably the most prolific and useful operating system for the masses to date. It deserves a monument! Long live the memory of Windows XP the OS that got it right in the end!
