    Question CCAPPS.exe virus/spyware problem???

    hi guys
    i have a problem on one of my networks, i have a file called ccapps.exe that copies itself onto the c: of all the computers, it basically owns ur computer spyware + virus wize, it installs spyware popups and all kinds of stuff randomly,i have removed it with a virus program, from etrust to norton all of them.... even tried system mechanic , i have searched for it in google and ways to remove it,is there any suggestions on how to totally remove it and ge rid of it? as soon as it remove it it copies itself back onto the c: , even if the network is down

    Boot into safe mode and search for the file in the registry, remove all entries, ensure that you kill all suspect processes before doing so, run AV and reboot. Might work.

    I thought capps.exe was part of Nortons?

    No idea, never used norton in my life but a quick google reveals this

    and you are using windows xp, switch off the system restore function. some of the nasties copy themselves there, to be restored on the next reboot.

    Yeah, System Restore is the devil! I wonder if anyone has actually used it succesfully???
