MECER FE2500 PCMCIA Card HELP

If anyone has ideas...please help. I've been sitting for hours with this #$% ethernet card. I've downloaded the drivers from Mecers ftp site, spoke to them, and downloaded drivers from abocom.com. Compaq laptop - Win2K

Basically under device manager it seems OK - Power light on. But it does not connect to network (ie does not recognise when network cable is plugged in or out). And yes...the cable is fine.

Anyone.....any ideas??
