Maybe.

Just spoke to the call center

Apparently the SciFi channel is coming back, and they are adding more movie and series channels!, watch out January 2006!

If thats the case, then DSTV might become worthwhile for me. I don't watch sports, so more movie/series choices will be great.

Well see, that all depends on what you like. To me, for example, E! (or anything else to do with celebrities) is total rubbish. I simply don't care. They're really not that interesting to me.

I'm still waiting for the time when you can customize your package. I'd drop all the sport channels except SS1, all the foreign language channels, all the DMX channels, E!, all the music channels except MTV, VH1 and possibly MK89, Hallmark, Animal Planet, BBC Food, SABC Africa, Summit + Bloomberg, all the religious channels, Travel Channel, Boomerang, Parliamentary service and all the news channels except CNN and Sky.

I might even drop one of the movie channels because currently they both show the same regurgitated crap 24 / 7 anyway.

Lets just hope this happens, they said they are also looking in to the Man United channel, not really my thing, but they are getting somewhere I guess!

I'm very happy that the sci-fi channel is comming back, are you sure whoiswarren?

I made a call to the call center and asked the guy what was new, he said a few new series channels, more movie channels, sci fi channel coming back, man utd tv, and some local stuff too.

Look guys, please dont get too excited, this guy could be wrong, but whats wrong with holding thumbs?

Sci-Fi means anime; anime means me = happy. holding thumbs for this one...

They are probably responding to the news that they wont have a monopoly for much longer.

Who will be competition for them? And will the new guys also charge fken R400 bucks a month?

Yeehaw! Sci-Fi's coming back! It seems that all the moaning on the DStv forums made a difference :)

The guy at the call centre told me that every second call is about Sci Fi so ja, they know if the competition brings it in they will loose all the Sci Fi nuts!

He also said its because of the PVR launch, as he said, whats the point of having a PVR if there are so few channels!

All good and well, but at what price are they giving us all this wonderful new content?

Well, i certainly hope its a bit better than the version they used to have, rerun upon rerun. Check out www.scifi.com , thats what we want :)
Up to date series, who wants to watch season2 of Enterprise when the rest of the world is watching Season4? Here's hoping.

Awesome, lets hope this happens. I needed my 30gig cap to download sci-fi series, now hopefully I can live without it ;)
