Who's gone and signed up? Which package?

Do you have your phone yet and what are they like?

If they launched today, I thought there'd be more noise in the forums about it. I don't see anything:confused:

Tell us about it!

Its seems very good, but they haven't replied to my email a week ago as to what the price is without a phone (They only have cheap android phones).
Not a very good dign

Tried to get the deal, but red bull mobile sims were not registered according to cell c rep at store. So all the hype no action till next week. Looks like the moto will be a good deal. Anyone know when the froyo update will be available for SA.

Man... looking at those deals depresses me... Paying R420 for my desire, R200 airtime and 100mb data on eMpTyN :( Maybe later this year I can port my voda contract to RBM.

Sounds like most stores weren't ready. No surprises there. Better late & cheap than punctual and pricey!

SO glad the MTN Corporate Rep caused me so much grief- I was about to sign up for 2years of pain! Got gatvol, shopped around and lo and behold, the RedBull thing hit the news. Stoked.

At least when I signed up it was "manageable pain" because vodacon costs just as much so not much alternative.

Not much in terms of reviews of the Ideos X5 aka Red Bull HD, but found one, but it seems the camera is not all that great for the HD selling point...http://www.phonearena.com/reviews/Huawei-IDEOS-X5-Preview_id2646.

I think my mind is made up, moto is lots smaller, almost the same specs and screen size..but have to wait even longer... or start phoning around, local store only had the HD in stock.

I was set on getting the Defy too, but then I had a look at a dummy model of the Defy at the Sandton Cell C store. It's screen might be .1 inch smaller than the X5, but it's much longer and thinner. It makes the screen feel quite tiny.

I plan on going with the RBM HD now. The Defy scores a 950 on quadrant standard whilst the RBM HD scores a 1500 or more. This is quite the difference.
I messed around with a RBM HD instore and it really seems that the Camera issue that was present in the preview models has been sorted out. I took some video and there was no choppiness at 720p.

The only problem now is that when I went to open my contract on saturday, due to an error in their system(they admitted fault) I apparently have a bad credit rating on the Cell C registration system and it's going to take a few days to clear up.
It's things like these that piss me off.

Oh and if you plan on getting a Defy you're going to be waiting over a month for them to arrive. I called Cell C and got through to the woman claiming to run the RBM campaign and she told me that the Defy models are all stuck in customs and won't be released for another 3 weeks.

Thanks for the second opinion, Well three weeks, that gets me to NCA so might be worth it. Was planning on rooting the phone in not so distant future, as i dont see the Froyo update coming soon. Motorola only list the upgrade for europe per MEA region. Also going with moto for greater experience in the industry, more phones more chances (and forums :) to get it right,

I went into the store and signed up on Sat. They said there is a problem with the SIM cards and they'll only be ready this week, so I'm hoping to get a call late this week so I can go pick everything up. The only thing that really pissed me off, was that I HAD to have statements from the bank, I couldn't use the ones I printed off inet banking, which sucks, cause at R5.50 a page, it gets a little pricey.

I opted for the RBM HD, it seemed quite nice when I was playing with it in the store. Will update when I have news.

I do understand how they have to have verified statements, but seriously, it's a huge waste of paper and money and time, to have to queue in the bank for 3 months' printed statements IMO. That's just pages and pages of wasted paper. Why can't they contact your bank themselves and have a letter verifying your credit-worthiness sent directly from the bank? How do the vehicle financing places verify your status?
