Restore data backed up on OS5 onto OS6?

Hey

I'm getting the bold 9780 which has OS6. The last backup of my phone (before it was stolen) was done with a 9700 running OS5. Is it possible for me to restore all my old information onto my new phone even though it's running OS6? Or would I have to put OS 5 on the new phone to restore that data? Also, the phones naturally have different pins so will BB desktop manager even allow me to put info that was backed up on a different phone onto my new one?

Would've have tried doing it but still waiting for the phone so thought I'd just ask here first.
 
Yes it works fine. Just use the device switch wizard in desktop manager. A few apps might not work but all your data will be there.
 
Just noticed that DM for Mac doesn't have the switch device wizard. Bit of a problem there. But according to posts elsewhere, the restore function works fine except that it doesn't transfer any 3rd party apps. I just hope that it works with the different OS.

The restore will work fine for OS5 backup to OS6 phone (I have done this when I installed my first OS6 version on my 9700), but I cannot comment on OS5 9700 -> OS6 9780
