smtp server

This is pure laziness but could somebody please tell me what smtp server to use when connecting via vodacom gprs / 3g? I tried smtp.vodacom.co.za but no go.

Thanks

Ok, it is smtp.vodacom.co.za. Guess my connection wasn't so active when I tried that. Do the gsm pc cards have better reception than a gsm phone. The reception in my flat isn't fantastic and I think that affects data connections quite badly.

(Somebody please reply I don't want to look like a twit having a conversation with myself - or is it too late ;))

Thanks ic. I can always count on you :)

I have a Nokia 6310i. Its set up and working and I've been playing with it this evening, browsing a little. Its just the connection isn't that reliable - it comes and goes. I was thinking that perhaps finding a way to boost my signal would help.

Outgoing mail trouble again

Hiya - is anyone else having trouble sending out mail this afternoon? I get the error message :
"Task 'Mweb - Sending' reported error (0x80042109) : 'Outlook is unable to connect to your outgoing (SMTP) e-mail server. If you continue to receive this message, contact your server administrator or Internet service provider (ISP).'"

Had the same problem as you the other day, today the sending is doing it again. It tells you however that your send went just fine, although nothing is sent. Anybody have this problem?

Also having serious problems. Have to log into MWEB airmail to send anything.

The thing is that I had a wonderful connection (3G) until about 17h30 yesterday. Since then it feels like I have gone to very low data speed levels.

I just spoke to a guy that got 3G yesterday and tried to surf last night. He is suffering with the same problems. Seriously ticked off. He got it on my recommendation. Midstream Estates in Midrand area.

I don't know what you guys are doing (SMTP and general speed) but you are chasing customers away. Tonight I have to send a few MB of emails. Doing it through web mail is really going to suck, and that at GPRS speeds.

Please fix it.

From good to utterly crap. This page took several minutes to load...and as long to send this message.

Again today I am having issues with the stupid SMTP server (Outgoing mail). The other thing that happens is the DNS server that won't always resolve the Namehost. I phoned Vodacom's 3G helpdesk (waited 30 minutes for anyone to answer) told them about it on which the person replied that they've never had problems with this (although they acknowledged it when I phoned about two weeks ago)

Asked them both times to email me a complaint code or number on which they agreed, ofcourse I'm still wiating for any email

V3G Any suggestions?

sending mail

I've recently experienced the problem that I cannot send mail. I use a Gmail account, and files of a few kb has no problem. The moment we have bigger files to send the problems occur.

Receiving mail is no problem. even for a few mb's. It is just sending.

Where must I look for the problem. Gmail, or hardware, or my connection?

From Outlook
---------------------------------------------------------------------------
The host 'smtp.vodacom.co.za' could not be found. Please verify that you have entered the server name correctly. Account: 'pop3.mweb.co.za', Server: 'smtp.vodacom.co.za', Protocol: SMTP, Port: 25, Secure(SSL): No, Socket Error: 11004, Error Number: 0x800CCC0D

---------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is precious. I can do anything except send mail.

I had to leave 20 minutes ago. I am losing money per minute now. I cannot afford to send this email in 60 minutes when I reach my client because it will be too late.

Please fire the people responsible for the SMTP server and get new ones. Please!!!!!

Ja nee. At least today I get a new and exciting error message:

"Task 'Mweb - Sending' reported error (0x800CCC0D) : 'Unable to find the e-mail server. Please verify the server information in your account properties.'"

with the same problem (can't send email at the most critical times, aaarrgghh).

change the smtp to 168.210.129.147 should resolve yall`s issue`s dns issue it seems

Thanks SWF007, I was running around like a mad thing trying to find the IP.

This will 'fix' the problem, I've tested it as well.

In your mail settings change the outgoing SMTP server from smtp.vodacom.co.za to 168.210.129.147.

I'm not even going to apologise for this. These DNS errors must be sorted out

Some feedback. The problem is originating from IS's DNS servers not resolving smtp.vodacom.co.za. It's been escalated to them.

In the meantime please use the IP and all should be well.
