Is it just me or does Neotel try and rip everybody off?

Hi,

I have been a long time Neotel customer, one of the initial subscribers early on.
I even wrote this howto, http://http://www.grobister.co.za/viewentry.php?id=5 in 2008 that was them shamelessly copied to the Neotel website with NO CREDIT.
That's all fine.

Problem is when I terminated my service is November.

I am not gonna go into the many calls I had to make to get the termination done as I don't think it's relevant!

Problem is my deposit, 6 months later and I still don't have it back!
Today, I got a call and was told they are refusing to return my deposit because I used the service.
(Neotel Flex Data 10G) after it was supposed to be terminted.

apparently I used ±300mb in December and ±20mb in Janaury and therefore I can't have my R1000 deposit back!!!!!!!

Firstly,

I requested it be terminated at the end of Nov, so if it was not whose fault is that?

I bought a cell c 5G prepaid service at the end of nov and had no reason to use the Neotel service so I actually dispute the usage too! the device was unplugged?????

It's been 6 months, it seems they never intended returning the deposit and they are making **** up to avoid paying me my money back!

It's not just you. Trust me. Neotel's billing issues have been ongoing for the years now, and cancellations don't ever seem to be done properly.

Good luck trying to get your money back.

As somebody else has said, they appear to be their own worst enemy. For a company that is in trouble, one would like to believe that they will go the extra extra mile to create a positive service provider -client interface experience in order to spread a positive image ect. And it is so simple - I have been waiting for weeks now for a device to be changed to prepaid - I now have stopped calling - will give them another 3 months and call again. So, in the mean time, I do not recommend them to anybody - they loose potential clients, they loose further market share - etc etc. Just because they cannot do something simple in reasonable time period.

Really worried about these deposits now, as it seems like everyone has issues getting their deposits back. Neotel has R1000 of mine which I definitely want back at service termination

It's not just you. I know of a situation where one of their suppliers nearly went insolvent and exentually had to break in to get their equipment back because of non payment issues. Sounds like Neotel are best avoided completely!

I think we are expecting 2 c a big change now with the new CEO/MD on board. Also there has been many changes at the senior levels. I look forward to a very strong impact in the SA market in the coming months.

Its definitely not just you, they have more than 600 complaints in the past year on Hello Pietertjie.
Recently had a massive fight with them over an incorrect blacklisting.

Give their Credit Manager a call. Steve du Preez. 083 451 2221
The rudest guy ever to be put in a Manager's position, but maybe some persistent after hours calling will get him to look at your case ;-)

I am also waiting for my deposit. Cancelled beginning of the year. Neotel are a bunch of thieves. I cannot believe that they are screwing over so many consumers. With every new client that signs up with them they try to find a new way to screw them over. To anybody that think of getting Neotel, DON’T. You will kick yourself later on.
