I had a little accident last week now first 4 women want to write the car off.
They want to pay me R20 000.
My question is, can i get money and the car back? its really not THAT bad, u can see a pic on my profile...
Any advice would be awesome. Thank you!

You can offer to buy the car from them.

Looking at the pic, I think they're trying to write it off so they score on the deal... that can't cost more than R10,000 to fix.

you need
1.) Bumper
2.) Tail Light
3.) Rear Fender

To try and give you a simple answer - the R20,000 is your excess...

If you were involved in a collision with another party and it was the other parties fault, you can lodge a claim against them - the insurance company have a legal department who do things like this but it can take a long long time.....

I also find it strange that they "want you to pay", I would assume they deduct the R20,000 from your payout?

Read again - they don't want to get R20k from the OP - they want to PAY OUT only R20k to the OP.

My advice, take your car, no need to claim (although you must tell your insurer about the accident - which you have)

Take it to a back-yard panel beater (ask a local car mechanic for their friends number) and shoud be able to fix for under R5k.

Good luck

Thanks... Didnt pick that up...

So the guys are basicly saying "The car is only worth R20,000"? Wonder how much they were charging him per month.

Best is to ask how much they will charge you to buy it back.

I know of a guy who's Audi was written off and got paid out R24k then had to pay R7k to buy back his car.

Also ask what the max amount that they can pay out is without writing the car off.

Well, I'm assuming that R20k is the amount the car was insured for. Hence, the insurance payment would be for a car to the value of R20k. The insurance company doesn't get to "decide" how much they "feel like" paying out when a car is written off. They pay out the value that you insured it for.

The damage may look superficial, but if the chassis has been bent then it will be very expensive to fix, or very unsafe to drive.
