Wow, it's been a while since I've posted on here. Forgot my old log in so had to make a new one. 500 posts on my old profile. FFS.

But I digress.

My home phone went down last Monday. No dial tone, no ringing, nothing. Odd, because if I phoned it from my cell, it would ring on the cell side but not on the phone side. Reported the fault on Hellkom's website. Went to gym that morning and saw many, many Hellkom vans driving around the area.

On Thursday, at about 17h00, I heard the home phone ringing. It was Simon, just checking whether the phone was now working correctly. Apparently, they've had loads of problems with the local exchange over the past few days. Very courteous guy, asked him for his name so I could tell Telkom about the good service I received. He thanked me profusely and even gave me his personal cell number that he said I could call him if the fault returns or if I have any problems at all in future. This I found to be exceptional. Sent Hellkom a mail about the experience and I do hope they take it up.

I think good service of any kind, especially from guys who have been taking much flak lately, deserves to be rewarded and published.

Seems things are indeed looking up in the world of SA telecoms...

PS: Is this the right place for this? Couldn't find a place to talk about Telkom phones lol

Share his number!!!! Hehehehe... Kidding :D
Good to hear tho.

Had a similar experience with the Office Manager at the Home Affairs Dept in Belville, CPT. I deal with Home Affairs more regularly than most and he's been fantastic!
I'd been waiting for 6-months for an unabridged birth certificate... only to find "National Call-centre good afternoon.... Yes we received your application 6-months ago Sir. But it's not processed yet... We're not sure why".
I called him, he got involved himself, and 3-days later it was ready for collection. Amazing! Well done Quincy!

There are always nuggets in the system. Thank goodness for that!

Rgds,
SD.
