I tested the following scenario 5 minutes ago:

Person1 - MTNLoaded profile setup 5 days ago.

Person2 - MTNLoaded profile setup 5 months ago.

Person3 - MTNLoaded profile setup 3 months ago.

Person1 - cannot send mail from mobile to Person1 or Person3, but can to any other non- mtnloaded address.
Person2 - can send mail to Person1 and Person3
Person3 - can send mail to Person1 and Person2

I am thinking that MTN has recently changed their policy on this. They propably let all older profiles as is to stop people like me from moaning, cause I would loose the capability of sending free sms's to my MTN contacts. All new profile setups and sms notification setups would loose this "loophole".

Would any MTN representative please respond to this observation.

double check scenario

Temporary error, should work if you test it yourself.;) Delayed notification is still an issue.

I found the solution to my problems. It seems that the Samsung D600 would not send mail to [number]@mtnloaded.co.za, but [anything else]@mtnloaded.co.za works fine. I reckon it is just a bug in the pop-mail phone software. I solved my problem by adding alias's to our mail accounts. We can now sms each other for 2c each. Save myself R90 p/m right there.

CHEAP SMS SETUP INSTRUCTIONS FOR MTN USERS:
1. Setup MTNLoaded account at www.mtn.co.za.
2. Setup mail account after registration.
3. Goto Folders and setup sms notification on Inbox.
4. Edit aliases to add [name\anythingyouwant]@mtnloaded.co.za as your e-mail address.
5. Edit MTNLoaded Profile to ad [number]@mtnloaded.co.za as e-mail address.

CHEAP SMS SENDING INSTRUCTIONS FOR MTN USERS:
1. Send e-mail from phone, for less than 160 characters, to vodacom customers to [number]@voda.co.za. This is an unlimited service from Vodacom. They make money when you send longer mails. They would then ask the receiver to send M for more of the message. They then pay for that sms.
2. Send e-mail to non-MTNLoaded, MTN customers, for less than 160 characters, to [number]@sms.co.za (cannot be done from Samsung D600). This is limited to 5 sms's per day.
3. Send e-mail to MTNLoaded, MTN customers to [number]@mtnloaded.co.za (Samsung D600 users can only send to [name\anythingyouwant]@mtnloaded.co.za). The receiver gets sms notification of incoming mail. This is the prompt to retreive and reply. This comes without limitations.
