Thread: How to wifi

  1. #1

    Default How to wifi

Got the adsl line which I dial up. [Old router]

So on normal adsl, I dial up, then firefox.

So for wifi, I switch the laptop on, it tells me wifi is connected. I open FF, go to google, but no comms.
Is it simply time for a new router, or am I doing something stupid. Never use wifi before.

It could be that you've forced your IP address on your WiFi adapter, instead of letting it automatically obtain an IP address from your ADSL router/WiFi AP.

The IP address that your WiFi adapter gets on your PC should be in the same range as that of the LAN adapter, unless you've got a separate WiFi AP that isn't in bridge mode.

you must also remeber that if you assigned a password to your wifi that you need to add that on your laptop/PC/cell/any other wifi device. Else the device can see but not use the wifi network...
