Hi,

I have a redundant Telkom 105W ADSL router which I no longer use - moved and now no telkom lines in my area.

I currently connect to the internet using a 3G USB modem on my home PC, which has internet connection sharing enabled and is connected to my LAN so other PC's can use the same connection - this works 100%.

I now have an iPad which I would like to connect wirelessly, so what I want to do is plug one of the LAN connections on my Telkom router into my local LAN and then bridge the LAN and Wireless on the router so that I can create an access point for my iPad to connect to, but get an IP address in same range as other PC's and obviously share the internet connection.

I have tried a few options on the Telkom router, but have no been sucessfull. My iPad connect to the network, but cannot get internet connection.

Can this be done with this router? don't really want to spend money on an access point if I don't have to.

Thanks

Chris

If your "AP" uses DHCP, you have to configure the gateway and DNS with the IP of the computer where the ICS is set up.

BTW, you posted in the wrong section of the forum, that's why you aren't getting that many replies. ;)

iPads and the like need a DHCP address which points to the correct gateway. I don't have that router to confirm but if the router can handle a custom gateway/dns address under DHCP settings then you can set it to hand out DHCP addresses and the iPad would connect. If not then you need to disable DHCP service on the router and run some kind of DHCP software on the master pc
