Nothing really, rumour has it that they are planning to compete on "service" rather than price.

    Whats new for SA.

Sounds like it must be imminent then - in a perverse/reverse kinda way .

    a booming economy? heh.

its sick seeing the same repitiion in 'competitor' companies starting out. they might as well just give them selves one name... kinda like the banks in this country... hrm and the supermarkets...

welcome to our 'copy paste' ctrl+c+v economy.

Was thinking the same when an alleged Virgin employee told me that, also they are planning to target business men and companies rather than end users.

    All "rumours" ofcourse

If Virgin is going to target businessmen and companies then I guess they will officially launch around the middle of the year (or Q3) when the mobile number portability service should be available from the 3 mobile operators.

If they launch sooner it will be more difficult to get high value customers like businessmen and companies to change their cellphone numbers just to use VM.

I'd like to see what they can offer to get high value customers to switch their contracts to VM!

Sub R1.00 calls at all hours ....

looks like we need a stronger anti monopoly board in SA as prices stay relitively alike thru out the networks and they hook u in on services, we need to encourage healthy competition i.e price wars so we the consumers can see real benifits and on the service front y do providers wnt me to pay for a service that doesnt benifit me like that caller tunes thing i pay so ppl calling me can listen to a tune instead of "ring ring" its a money making sham.

Even at 1c per MB I probably won't use it. It is terribly slow!

Flat rate Mobile Internet Access should be the norm for both pre-paid and post-paid users.

R100 unlimited usage for a month or R5 unlimited usage for a day.

Cell C is absolute crap...getting GPRS settings to a phone I bought from their was impossible...even after visiting their website I still couldn't get the settings sent to my phone...and then they''re charging you R2 to get the settings sent, how bloody retarded.

    I'm never using it again.

I had the exact same experience with CellC about October 2004 - "smartdata" GPRS - it is just one of many things that put me off as a CellC customer.
