Hackers demonstrate “social engineering” at DefCon

There's a very fitting Afrikaans saying for these people who hand out company data so easily: as jy dom is moet jy kak.

Google Translate says it even better... :D

FYI, to all those throwing the term "hacker" and "hacking" around... social engineering is one the primary, if not most basic fundamental starting point, of any hacker's life. You don't need to be a smart-ass in PC's to hack systems. Attack the weakest link.

Script-kiddies... now those ****ers I hate... my servers even more so... brute forcing and cracking a password isn't what I'd call hacking at all. But anyway. Good to see the guys didn't forget the most basic forms of hacking ;)

... Which is the dumb-ass at the company. Unfortunately people are almost never trained in basic computer security when they start to work at a company. And they're oh-so-happy to be able to help someone, that they'll give out info without thinking. I blame the companies for not training their staff properly in basic security.
