A petition on Facebook has been started to have under fire New Zealand referee Bryce Lawrence banned from handling another game of rugby.

Lawrence was widely slammed for his officiating in the Rugby World Cup quarter-final between South Africa and Australia in Wellington on Sunday.

The petition, started on Sunday, has already attracted over 8 000 followers.

Petitions are just petitions, they are like prayers solve nothing except give people something to do.
 
yes, facebook is useless, I mean its not like it helped overthrow a few countries in africa/middle east now did it
 
Seriously? I mean he sucked but they should've won despite that. Even if he doesn't ref another match again, the QF's over, the Boks are out.

Let's just move on, World Cup's over. I'm already pretending that it doesn't exist.

In that case we will face him again soon, is there ever a point where we at least try to draw attention to bad referring. This has been going on for years.

Like the group, he has to be banned from the game.
Aus played well though and took advantage of the ref. - nothing wrong with that IMO.

1 x mistake is fine, but missing 3 high tackles, 6 illegal turnovers and 2 "held up" calls is just silly when it is only for the one side....

Point is we want poor refereeing out of the game, it is not about being a sore loser or challenging the rules. If the rules are to be challenged and IIRC he would not be allowed to ref the game as his home nation would be facing the winner of the match the he was the referee of. What the post is saying is that he should be out on his bad calling on the game not only ours. Did you watch the game between Aus and IRE?. Super 15 crusaders match, previous world cup matches the list goes on. Yes we lost, yes we had all the "advantages" to score and we can argue the game till we are blue in the face but this is about not standing for poor refereeing.
