Official Motorola RAZR thread (Android version)

Count me in.

Long time RAZR fan, only reason I dont like the Samsung line... I like a metal cased phone.

Then again I only renew in Feb so will see what else is out then, but so far this one is on top of the list.

Yip....I am already considering ripping into my very sad looking savings account. I promised myself that I wont ever take money out of it again unless it is a matter of life and death...but I do have a feeling that if I dont get this phone I might slip into a Motocoma never to awaken again!

This is killing me. I've spent SO much time on reviews and forums in deciding what to get come upgrade time beginning of November, finally deciding on the Atrix which is already a couple of months old, and now they'll be announcing this (ama zing) piece of ("savings account raping") hardware. Someone please don a guru-hat?

It depends on your budget. The RAZR is a better phone in just about every way, (especially looks) but it will most likely be significantly more expensive. You probably won't notice much difference between the two in use though. The Atrix comes with Froyo and the RAZR with Gingerbread, but it's really a trivial matter to change either one to a different version so not really a deciding factor. See the prices when it comes to SA. Not much point in getting a 10% better phone if it costs 100% more, unless you care about impressing people. (In which case I recommend an iSomething :D)

I'm thinking it will be priced at around R6k, but knowing moto, this will cause a spin off, and seeing their history, they'll drop the price, and release different flavours. So If this hunk of gorgeous engineering is over your budget, I seriously would worry about it because in a few months they will release a newer version, which will be spec'd in a similar way, but cost less and come stock with a new version of andriod.

Either way, I think this phone is better than the GS2, and seems to compete with the new Nexus in a way... which is interesting. Either way, looks like Moto have fast become the fashion designers of the industry (SE does have good looking phones, but they don't have that edgy look that really makes something standout... besides, all the SE phones can't compete in terms of specs, which is never an attractive thing (it's like having a really hot girlfriend/boyfriend, but she's too stupid to speak to..))

+1 for Motorola, they seem to have pulled themselves out of a rut, much like Samsung did with their first Galaxy phone...

I recall mr. OC saying the Atrix would cost along the lines of R6400. I have no clue on market trends so what does that spell for Motorola, cheapening the Atrix and putting the RAZR in it's place pricewise? Eh, I guess all i can do is wat till end October.

It seems reasonable having the Atrix fill the R4k~R5k bracket with the Razr filling the high end... Although, i guess we must just wait and see what Moto does, lets hope they price competitively so as to make people think this is a better choice than the current king, the Iphone.

Hmm, if they don't drop price on the current flagship (even if it is a relatively old model that has only now found it's way here...) that means the RAZR will be just that much more expensive.

It IS a better phone in every way, and it has got very competitive specs compared to the competition. Where's a vodacom marketing expert to be found these days... :) (cough...)!

So you basically looking at a pay-in of over R1000 if you want a top-up contract

Anyway, I prefer this advertisement over the other one. So much...better.

Maybe they will launch the flat-rate android data with this phone

I lol'd at a comment on the second ad:

"even motorola made a huge come back.... WHAT THE F**K HAPPENED TO NOKIA???"

mandatory comment: they didn't chose android ;)

Well, I think it is safe to assume that this will be a expensive phone. There simply is no way that the price on gsmarena is right I think. It is making me extremely depressed.

I wonder if my old spot at the red light down the road is still open. Think it is time to come out of retirement. :p

The price in the UK is 450 pounds.
