SIP Phone

Miro has a special on the Grandstream BT101's right now, I think its about R390. But it is a really basic phone. If you want a nice phone try the SPA941 which is about R950.

dont know what the SPA941 is but for the Same price you can get a cordless Dualphone which is awesome. www.dualphone.net
 
I'd say go for the Grandstream, I've tested most the SIP phones avaliable in the R700-R400 range and all you going to get is a few Chinese OEM phones that are all junk.

you think Grandstream is not chinese junk?

looking around your house, how many chinese junk you have?

chinese can make junk is abusolutely true, but i got no idea how to call those who are using chinese junk ....
 
My comments on the OEM phones are based on tested performance not nationality.

Hardware yes, firmware no ... and thats the big difference.

The firmware on the OEM phones is pathetic to say the least ... SIP parsing bugs, frequent lockups, poor handling of NAT etc etc. The overriding factor however is the pooly implemented codecs (e.g. G.729) and jitter buffers. When placed side by side with a Grandstream or Sipura the vocal quality is noticably inferior to anyone's ear.
 
do you really know what does OEM stand for and exactly mean? pls googy or wiki yourself. Manufactures don't make firmware.

i'd love to buy such junk if SAniese can make them, at leaset we don't have to wait for stock and will save a lot on shiping

your talking definitely based on nationality, don't tell me the word chinese is kind of performance, is it?

Not that this has anything to do with recommending a good SIP phone, but yes I do understand what OEM means in the strictest sense. However in the context of SIP phones many refer to low-cost unbranded (but full functional i.e. hw+fw) units avaliable at the distribution level as OEM.

I'm sorry you're so touchy about my inclusion of the country of origin, or possibly the use of the word junk (which I would use to refer to any uncompetitive product whether it be from SA, Germany or anywhere else). If it will make you feel better, I retract my previous statement and replace it with a more politically correct version ...

Based on my testing, it is my opinion that the performance & stability of SIP phones from US based vendors are superior to unbranded units from far-east based vendors.

from how you messed up the concept between unbrand and OEM, you know ABSOLUTE nothing about OEM

with nowadays globalization, you still have such ideas, i have no word to comment. pls ask your Trade & Industry minister about the numbers/percentage of import from far-east.

finally, you still think ONE COLOR IS SUPERIOR THAN OTHERS ...

I think you'd get more response by starting a new thread. Skype Phone NOT= SIP Phone ... very different protocols.

Telsip

The Telsip Voip can be purchased from makro cheaply and can be used on any voip service.
