This morning driving back from the beach I though I should maybe fix my cd shuttle for the car. When I saw this thread again I thought this thing would make a great little audio player for the car. Should be easy to interface with the bus used by the shuttle. Only problem I forsee is getting the song details to be displayed on the head unit as it's pretty old, oh well could always use a external display for that.

Slightly OT...
You guys might have look at the TP-Link TL-WR703N (with OpenWRT). Maybe not as "powerful" and no video/audio native capability, but includes Wireless N networking in a pretty small package. Retails for around $22-$24 from various international online shops with free shipping. eg: can't vouch for this one though
* Have been thinking of using them for remote USB or just general purpose remote I/O around the house.

Quite possibly. I just feel it's strengths lie elsewhere, as in the primary objectives of the creators and the project as a whole.

I don't see any I/O expansion there, how do you propose adding an I/O Expander?
Sure, you can do it that way, the biggest cost will be the shipping, unless of course you know a mule coming out from the UK.

That was my first idea, but it will be much easier to debug/develop for if you have a graphic interface (thinking about the image processing specifically, in which case the processing power is also a big deal)...
It should not be too difficult to develop a usb IO expansion board...

They have stated that initially they will only be available "1 per customer" due to limited production. I am sure you will be able to buy a bunch together later.
Also stated that there is no volume discount structure or special dealer discounted pricing, as it not intended as a commercial project. One price fits all.
Sure but requires additional development. That what makes the Raspberry PI better, as it has I/O on board

Honestly, the maximum I would go for something like this is in the R600 odd range... that should be MORE than enough to cover duties and shipping plus a bit of profit for whoever brings it in.

Depending on your hacking/electronic skills it is possible to get a serial port line from the PCB that can be attached to a micro-controller/Arduino.
There should also be allot of ready made IO boards that can be driven from a USB port.
* I made the assumption if someone is looking @ the RasberyPi for General I/O they might have some electronic skills and would not mind hacking the TP Router.
For me the big win of the router is the Included Wireless N networking and size.

What license is this product developed/released under? If it's open source and it takes off I'm pretty sure others will jump on the bandwagon and start manufacturing them. I looked but could not find anyhting about the license, the schematics & board artwork are on the net so yo never know...
