NeoGo 24GB data deal for R799

Speed ? Coverage ? Dongle locked to Neotel ?

R66.50 a month for 2GB of undefined mobile data....

pffffft. Naaah. Think I'll pass on this.

Ditto on the questions, seems interesting, considering buying 2 if speeds are slow...

Overpriced in my opinion and a network locked CDMA that will be useless but for R799 including the device well spent money might actually bite on this deal who knows maybe Neotel will offer great data deals later on,on prepaid.

I also didn't know that Neotel entered the USB dongle space but I would rather go with iburst. R199 for 20gig of data(if I remember correctly)

Data wise 8ta still comes in cheaper with 60 gigs for R1800 however with the free dongle from neotel I guess they could claim the best deal..

As far as I'm aware the dongle can't be locked to neotel by law so you should be safe there.

I think he is referring to the CDMA dongle...

This deal includes a CDMA USB modem, similar to the well known USB dongles from the mobile operators.

Who else is a CDMA network data provider ?? Hence the "locked".

More importantly, what are the speeds/signal/network quality like? Anyone have experience with one of these NeoTel USB CDMA modems?

Its a trap.

Their CDMA network is up to maggots.
I reckon that by March people will be here complaining about speeds and service because Neotel has just taken their call centre off-line again.

Do yourselves a favour all y'all, dodge this bullet.

Does neotel coverage only work in Gauteng or the rest of S.Africa as well?

Majority of the metropolitan areas. Like Gauteng,Durban,Cape Town, not sure of Bloemfontein, kimberly, etc. Skusku there is a network coverage map on their website haven't followed on Neotel for years.

I have to admit this deal is fantastic. A device that probably retails for R300 probably. R500 for 24gig isn't a bad price at all but my main concern is there aren't any data bundles+is there a monthly fee to be connected to their network.

As far as I am aware Neotel is the only CDMA network in South Africa so ur dongle will be useless but for backup in case Telkom Fails, Vodacom, etc. Then yeah it will come in handy if u relay on internet 24/7. Big thumbs up to Neotel for coming to the table but still I think they can do better maybe give 50gig.

Tell that to the Vodacom-locked Vodaphone dongles :p

(And using a 3rd-party firmware mod to unlock it doesn't count...)

If it's truly not network locked, and it's a decent modem, then hell - I might pay R800 just for the modem ;D

- Edit -

Valid for 12 months, including device? Does this mean you have to give the device back after 12 months... ?

Try find another Service Provider operating on a CDMA network.

OK GO

Is there max CDMA speed not 1.2mb/sec or something like that?

Good deal pity I dont have coverage like 75% of the other mybb users

Think I'll swerve on this one. Does not tick all the boxes, besides, they had the opportunity to impress us years back, all they succeeded in doing was p1ss poeple off with sheer incompetance. Once bitten........

Its crap, had one on Contract, the moment it expired I got rid of it. 1.5GB per month. Never used that much as it was frustratingly slow.
