    Official market one's?

    No.

Edit: Well thinking about it, if you install http://www.youwave.com/ and then get a Google market app on it to install the apps on the Emulator, then back-up the APK's and move them to your phone.

    Tx.
I just got this my HTC Desire S yesterday and I just started using it now. I remember you mentioned somewhere your top 5 MUST HAVE apps. I read your blog and other threads, but it's just too much for a first time android user.

It evolved into this thread, seeing that people like different apps for different reasons.
I would say 5 top must have in categories is:

Security(Lookout): track the phone when lost/stolen
Back-up(My Sync Center): sync your data with your PC
Communication(Whatsapp): its more than a phone
Power Management(Juice Defender): to keep you online longer.
Data Management(Onavo): To keep the phone account low

But honestly see what the different ones offer.
.... and thanks for all the fish.

Looking for a good FTP client?

    AndFTP
AndFTP is a robust client for Android Phones with support for FTP, FTPS, and SFTP transfers, as well as SSH key support.

This is free, but there is a Pro version as well. The free version does the job for me.

Guys, what will you say is the best free GPS app to download? And secondly, if I connect the samsung galaxy S Plus to our wifi network at home, does the phone use wifi to download apps and things or still 3G? I downloaded sygic but the SA maps are 500mb to download and don't want that on my account come month end

    Alarmdroid https://market.android.com/details?i...clock.donation

Excellent alarm, just flip phone over to snooze, shake to stop and can read out time as party of the alarm tone

Sent from my GT-N7000 using Tapatalk, apple needs to copy again!

A very usful app that i can a cross was OTA RootKeeper - It allows you to backup and restore your root

I use it for when I watch stuff on the DSTV drifta (DSTV mobile decoder), as it require you to have a non rooted device.
All you have to do is make a backup and then temporary unroot your device...then you can watch your drifta

GPS Essentials has everything and all the components work pretty well. But there are tons of GPS apps and you should try a few.

Unless you mess up the settings, yes it will ignore 3G when there is a connected wifi.

Microsoft Apps (For the Windows fans hiding out there) Developed by Microsoft.

OneNote: note-taking app for capturing all of your ideas Syncs online.
Lync: Microsofts instant messaging, audio conferencing, and calling features.
Bing: Microsofts search app for Android (If you dont have enabler there is APK's on the net)
Hotmail: What it says, hotmail app for Android (developed by Seven + Microsoft)

Also to watch out for is Xbox for Android currently in development. I must admit I am shocked to see Microsoft even acknowledging the OS.
.... and thanks for all the fish.

    GPS App:

Using Route 66 - Currently free. Very impressed with it so far. Especially the augmented reality part. Turns the video onand show the map and directions on top of the live video with a little car driving in front of you to follow. Also very fast.
