Official Super Rugby Thread 2012

I said it on Twitter as well but I'll say it again.

It never rains but it pours. Especially so if you are a Lions fan or involved with the union.

I feel sorry for such a historic union to be going through all this crap.

RE: Mitchell. I'll concede that he is indeed a difficult man from what I have experienced. Once when we came through the player tunnel after a game, he was busy kukking out a player so badly that the player wanted to start crying.

I guess we all have our way of doing things and with the clash of styles and also perhaps culture there were always going to be some hiccups. Never thought it would go this far. But yeah. Mitchell does not have the best track record when it comes to people skills.

Watching all blacks vs Ireland pvred so not live. Nz 2nd try, cruden off load to sbw!!! Absolutely freakish. All blacks are in a different class. Respect.

Griquas lure two former Bulls

Shrewd buys by Pote Human.

Griquas have lured the services of two former Blue Bull centres for the upcoming Currie Cup season.

Volksblad reports that JP Nel and Stefan Watermeyer will report for duty in Kimberley on July 2.

Nel recently played club rugby in Japan for the NTT Communications team.

Watermeyer played Currie Cup rugby for the Blue Bulls last season before heading off to Wales where he recently played for the Ospreys club.

"JP and Stefan will add physicality to our midfield, while JP's experience will be of huge value. They are both contracted for the Currie Cup competition," said Griquas coach Pote Human.

Well when the Lions players play as kak as they do they deserve a good tongue lashing now and again.

Well when the Lions players play as kak as they do they deserve a good tongue lashing now and again.

I'm just saying this tongue in cheek, but didn't the Lions maybe deliberately lose (almost every match) to tick-off a coach that had no respect for them as individuals? I while ago, I think it was just before the Lions round 13 match against the Reds, I watched Josh Strauss's Skype interview with SuperRugby presenter Matthew Pearce on Boots & All and he was clearly troubled. He hardly ever looked at the camera and never once looked in the mood for the interview, not even mentioning talking about their preparation for that upcoming match.
It's just difficult to believe that a team that won the Currie Cup so convincingly is now losing almost literally every game.

Ackerman takes over from Mitchell at the Lions:

Cape Town - Former Springbok lock Johan Ackermann has been named coach of the Lions, taking over from the suspended John Mitchell.

As was reported last week, the Golden Lions Rugby Union suspended Mitchell after several players expressed their grievances in writing to GLRU president Kevin de Klerk regarding the former All Blacks and Western Force coach’s harsh management style, which some players claimed even involved verbal abuse.

De Klerk had initially said that Ackermann and Carlos Spencer would share the coaching duties, but on Monday confirmed to the Rugby365 website, that Ackermann would be the new coach and that Spencer would remain in his role as backline coach.

Ah, shame, did the big bad rugby players get their little egos hurt when their coach shouted at them for playing badly?

Idiots, welcome to the real world. If you stuff up be prepared to be given a talking to by your boss.

Oh man, oh man. Got to figure out my picks and resume my assault on pole position again :D

Damnit, thought the reds might be a tad more rusty and the rebels hungerier....

Missed out on the margin :(
