Strauss hits out at ref Lawrence

Mandatory comment: whine, whine, whine - MAN UP!

There can only be one winner when you make public comments like this... and it won't be JS.

Cape Town - Lions captain Josh Strauss has lashed out at the performance of referee Mark Lawrence after their 27-17 loss to the Stormers at Newlands on Saturday.

The Lions nearly caused an upset, trailing only 13-10 with less than ten minutes to go before the Stormers closed the game out in the dying minutes.

But Strauss believes the result could have looked different had Lawrence blown certain scenarios differently.

"Some of those calls I thought were not fair, and when it came at crucial times, it cost us," Strauss told SAPA.

"It was very frustrating coping with some of Mark Lawrence's calls.

"We're a side that play for each other and we've played together in the Currie Cup.

"We need a little bit of luck to convert those close games to wins."

The Lions' camp is definitely not a happy place at the moment, but those comments won't help the team or supporters. Time they focus on rebuilding.

The Lions have been rebuilding for the last 10 or so years. Coaches have come and gone without alot of improvement. Maybe it is time for the administrators to change???
The abuse on Fridays for wearing a Lions-jersey is getting too much....At least we won the CC last year.:D Yes, it was in a world cup year! Not our fault all our "boks" get poached by other teams.

Heard Coetzee interviewed this morning and must say I was impressed that he did not complain about the flu that hit the stormers. he simply said these things happen and you have to get through it as it could happen to any team.

This weekend imo most games could swing either way..... Sharks vs Bulls, Cheetahs vs Stormers (with a few injuries), Chiefs vs Crusaders, etc etc...

I just think that the Sharks with a bye last weekend and with the Bulls not in total form they going to beat the bulls by 5-7 points. Crusaders are gonna be fired up against Chiefs and will beat them with ease. By that time the Stormers will know the result of the Chiefs/Crusaders game and with the Crusaders winning will give them a boost knowing that a win over the Cheetahs will put them in a commanding position in ending up top of the S15 log. good times ahead.

Or... the sharks could be rusty from 4 weeks without rugby.... the Chiefs could dig deep and the crusaders stumble again.... then the pressure is on because if the stormers lose to the cheetahs without getting a bonus point.... well it all comes down to the last game :p

I agree 100%.

It is very hard to choose... I can't remember but I think I went with Sharks over Bulls and Chiefs over Crusaders.
