Toss that macaroni out, buy a proper router with Ethernet port, and use that instead
Plus side : you don't need to install any drivers for most Ethernet devices, and the Ethernet cable can be longer than a standard USB cable, which means you can have the router in the next room (or up the attic) if need be.
And also - should you want to play around with Linux, Ethernet is easier to support and get to work than USB...
