RIM may warn on BlackBerry shipments

Shares of Research In Motion dropped nearly 5 percent on Thursday after an influential analyst said RIM would likely warn that it came up short on BlackBerry shipments this quarter and offer an even bleaker outlook for its flagship smartphone.
 
RIM are over.

I always hoped they would recover and I've always been a fan, but the more I use my Blackberry, the more I want OUT. Today took 21 minutes to log to mybroadband ... offtopic ... motoring and transport ... and a single post. That's 4 mobile pages

What I think will happen is those that haven't used BB, will buy. Those that have had (and been burnt), will opt for anything else

I'm in the exact same boat you are, its almost creepy.
 
The faster this ship sinks, the better for everyone. They should shift their focus to data services for other devices because BIS/BES can be a good product, and they're in a unique position to capitalise on it.

And me. Most days (recently) I have almost no access to BBM, whatsapp or the net. I'm moving to Android very very soon.
 
Agreed also wish I can get rid of my 9780 and get a real smartphone like an s2

For the last time. That's not the phones fault, its vodacom mtn fault. Try the same thing through wifi?

For 90% of the time I'm either at my office or at home. Still no service, despite being on wifi.

you on Vodacom? This is not a RIM issue this is a South African issue and specifically Vodacom
 
I know it's Vodscom - check any of my other posts.

But it's irrelevant to me where's the blame lies : My BB end user experience is limited and willl be the reason I leave. Anyhow, if I was RIM I'd have some type of control over what the networks are doing with my product and how it's portrayed in the market
 
You get what you pay for.

Unlimited internet access for R60 a month? Yeah that's sustainable in this environment.

RIM setup shop in SA to gain market share and punt their products, they get over expected results then cannot support the product. Not sure what's happening behind the scenes, but RIM SA should take more of the blame IMO.
They just raking in the figures and showing off to head office.
 
Funny how most people on MTN do not maon about BIS unless it goes down but on Vodacom everyone complains.
I am still doing tests almost every day and can never get more than 500k anywhere in JHB.

Ohh and Jannie, I am still waiting for you to come back to me, whats has it been 1 month already since I e mailed you? ;)

Unlimited, throttled speeds and compressed mobile browsing should be sustainable?
I'm also sure RIM subsidises as well?

I've just done a test here (08:00) at Paulshof next to Porsche Center - Vodacom tablet got 57ms, 3.57 down and 2.33 up ... While the BB got 1095ms, 80kbps down and timed out on the upload. For a few weeks things were good end Jan - but they've slipped again

Yeah and Jannie would have us believe it was network abusers that screwed it up for everyone, funny how MTN do not have the issue :rolleyes:

With the cellphone networks selling their 3g bandwidth to resellers at something like 30c/MB? That means RIM would have to subsidize anything over 200MB a month - which isn't a lot. Like I said- not sustainable.
