"Are you a World of Warcraft junkie, and you miss your friend trolling the fields and mountains of Azeroth by your side? Blizzard is now offering an incentive for both the current player and previous subscriber thanks to a handy new Scroll of Resurrection.

According to Blizzard, when a current subscriber signs on an old friend, he/she will receive a Spectral Gryphon mount for an Alliance character, or a Spectral Wind Rider mount for a Horde character. This will be granted once the friend pays for a new 30-day subscription that the very least.

As for the returning friend, they get a sweet deal including:

* A single character immediately boosted all the way to level 80 -- DING!
* A FREE upgrade to Cataclysm regardless of the friend’s original box level.
* An optional FREE character move to the subscriber's realm and faction so they can play together.
* 7 FREE days of game time which is available immediately.

Current subscribers can send a friend the Scroll of Resurrection email by clicking here. Subscribers can also invite a friend via the World of Warcraft in-game friends list or guild roster. To accept and use the Scroll of Resurrection, the friend must meet the eligibility requirements including a prior subscription to World of Warcraft for at least 30 days, an inactive account on or before March 4, 2012, and more.

Only me or does WoW seem to be a dead horse?

I haven't played in over a year and I still miss it sometimes but seriously?
 
I never understood the appeal of WoW. My friends tried numerous times to get me into it and I always got bored to death just spamming hotkeys. I'm looking forward to the GW2 style of combat.

It's the social side of it.

You really only start enjoying the game once you have mastered one or more classes, undertsnad the dynamics of the game/classes and have played end game.

I recall myself also being borred the first few months of playing wow and only played my very first toon to about level 40 odd. Each and every level being a pain to get. I however met some cool folks on there and they moved to another realm. There I rolled a new class and we started playing together from level 1. Together we learned our classes and with knowing my class well and seeing them play their classes as we leveled together I started to see how tanking and healing works. Threat and so on as class mechanics. From then on it just became a whole new game for me and I enjoyed it for many many years following that.
 
Looks like they're getting desperate and trying all sorts of things just to get their subscribers back. Wow is a dying game and after the release of GW2, we'll see their subscriber base plummet even further. I cancelled my account a week ago, after being inactive on the game for around a year.
 
Cancelled my accounts over a year ago now and can't say that I feel like I'm missing anything. Get regular emails though inviting me back, but I don't really see the point.
 
Stopped playing in Jan and still miss the people some times.
 
I returned after getting a free cata trial code via email, trial expired so I bought cataclysm and a month of gaming, I regret it but still can't help wanting to return.
 
I'll return to WoW when the new expansion releases. A panda in armor looks interesting :p
 
I played for a few months, but could never get into it. Felt like an insignificant character in a tired old world, like going to a party too late and everyone is drunk and passed out.
 
Expansions should come as free upgrades with your subscription, really not worth the money that game.

There has never been any game like it, and I will be truly amazed if even Blizzard can pull something off that awesome again. I am so glad I had a relatively short stint of borderline no-life raiding/farming/grinding, and experienced all the game had to offer, I have many fond memories. Can't really explain it all, haters gonna hate I suppose.

Lots of factors contributed to it's success, including perhaps to a large extent the timing. Obviously it also wasn't going to last forever.
 
That's quite a nice incentive to get back in the game, but like alot of people have already mentioned....... it smells of desperation.

But still a nice incentive.
 
Other than the social side, I haven't missed the game since I quit. I discovered BF3 (I always hated FPS games) and haven't looked back.

I am looking forward to GW2 though!
 
Yea stopped playing myself end of last year, my life has been to busy to miss it, but was great fun.
