How long must it be?
If it's short, you can get one at a computer store. Usually about R10-12/m.
If it has to be long, prices are around R5-6/m for the cable and R4 or so per connector (you need 2), and ask them nicely to crimp them for you too.
It looks like a big-ass telephone cable, in short.

A friend once made himself a crossover converter thingy. Pretty nifty cause then u can use it to convert any normal ethernet cable to a crossover one.
To answer some of your OP, AFAIK they don't look any different to normal cables on the outside since the only difference is the wiring. So if u look carefully at the wiring at the connector, two wires will be crossed over, hence the name![]()
Switches these days have auto-sensing ports so you can use straight or crossovers.

Thanks guys, I just need to connect my pc to my laptop so it won't need to be that long, will Makro have it?
I would be very surprised if Makro has one. I was looking for one a few weeks ago. Incredible didnt have, Computer Mania didnt have and Dion Wired didnt have. Chaos computer could make one for me, but didnt have the tools at that moment. I had to go to a Internet Cafe in Somerset Mall which also sells a few computer parts to get a crossover cable made. Cost me R20 for 2 meters.
We will only have a truly open society when everything is open source.
Just get any cat 5 network cable from the local computer store. You should try get cross over if they have but straight should work no problems..
This reminds me to finish wiring the house! Bought like 100m and making my own cablesworks like a charm, but i hate getting in the roof!

Matrix computers can make you whatever length u want
Gigabit ports do autosensing and thus do not require crossover cables.
I got mine at pick 'n pay hyper.

I can make one up for you if you in the Tableview/Blouberg area. I bought 1000ft of cable a while back, needless to say I still have plenty left![]()
