I found Sam's Teach Yourself SQL in 10min a great way to get into the subject.
If we were made from dirt, why is there still dirt?

The book 'SQL Bible' was very helpful for me several years ago.

I absolutely agree, the IT industry evolves quicker than any printing company can handle, electronic versions are better and more cost effective. Buy a book now and in 6 months it'll be outdated.

I buy books that look nice in my book collection, but not because I want to learn from them. I started out by using online content and still do today...it's faster and more up to date.
