Anyone know the value of an old R50 Jan v. Riebeeck note?

My elderly neighbor found her deceased husband's stash of R50 notes. Haven't seen them so I don't know which picture is on the back to properly date when they were printed, but apparently it's in pristine condition (8 of them, I also don't know if the serial numbers are in sequence yet)

Does anyone have any experience with (or know of someone) how much these might be worth?

I've been looking on bidorbuy and contacting collectors with no real feedback yet. Found someone on gumtree selling one for R400 but I'm not sure how credible places like gumtree is with their prices.

Let us know if you find out anything, I found a whole lot of old notes and coins at my in-laws place. If they are worth anything I'm taking them in exchange for looking after their daughter :D

Few people are interested in those old notes and coins so best to hold on to them until they are very rare and in demand.
 
Maybe its silly but keep em? Put them in the safe and pass them down to you children!

Excellent idea. It's cool to look at the old coins and notes. And amazing how heavy the coins were.
 
I've got the set (2, 5, 10, 20 and 50) they weren't expensive.

Depending on year etc, the value ranges according to how rare it is - so between 150-400 I guess. Most are the 150-200

Yea i used to love sitting at my grand parents house looking through all there old stuff ;P Coins, notes, little metal ornaments etc

Not easy to get rich off old money :P

I had an 1896 penny I found in the school grounds, it was worth about 20c, 20 years ago. Old money isn't really worth much unless it's a defective print, rare coinage.
