Hi, thanks for the help. I did add VAT to the prices posted in the thread so yes prices are good.

The only reason for buying from one vendor is because I want them to assemble it for me as well.

Hmm good point on cooler, I'll definitely need to add something, will this be okay "Coolermaster Tpc-812" @R650

I've also never overclocked any of my current PC's (not even my current Q6600, I know ), but definitely thinking of doing it in future should this setup get a bit "older" so might prepare for it now allready.

Why would you recommend the i5 3750? I was actually thinking of upgrading above to the i7-3770K as it's only bout R1,000 more expensive, but I read that the i5 performs better for gaming than the i7?

I want this PC to last me the next 3-4 years so I'd rather spend a little bit extra now than to upgrade in i.e. 2 years time.

i OC'd my last rig heavily (i7 920 from 2.6 to 4.2 GHz). but after a while i just returned it to stock. it was fast enough without the OC. GPU makes a bigger diff in-game anyway.
it's extra money for cooler, LOTS of time (fun time, admittedly!) to get the OC just right, and added stress on the chip. and the extra cooling makes extra noise, too! i just recently bought an i5 3550, asrock extreme4 mobo. i have dual-sli gtx 285. even on old 1333 ddr3 ram, my machine is so insanely fast that in all honesty i would be pandering to my pride if i got anything better

most importantly: the SSD! don't skimp there!

Not necessarily, it would be a better investment for gaming to get a higher end graphics card than an x79 motherboard and a 3930K. The only game I can think of that benefits more from your CPU is GTA IV, but that was due to the fact that it was poorly coded. Almost no games currently, and in the near future will be able to max out an i5. Then again if you get a 3930K you probably won't have to upgrade your CPU again for the next 5 years. Personally, for gaming, I would choose the i5 along with a higher end graphics card.

They probably just put something together at the last minute, the mid-range rig that they posted was probably worse off, graphics card couldn't even fit into the case and only 4GB's of RAM were included, considering how low RAM prices currently are, one would've expected at least 8GB's for a gaming rig

Congrats on your new PC, very solid build, only reccomendation is that for gaming a Dell U2412M monitor would be better than a Samsung S24B370H as it has an extremely low input lag. Other than that a great build

Excellent build there mate. Only thing I would change is the keyboard and mouse. Mouse, I would go with the Steelseries Sensei, or if you want wireless, the Mamba 4G. Razer are known for giving crap products, but that is the best wireless mouse on the market. Then for keyboard, I would go mechanical. All variants will be an improvement over logitech. Mechanical is the way!

Screen wise. Get something that is 120Hz, trust me, you can tell the difference. All this talk about the eye only seeing a certain frame rate is k@k. Unfortunately, 120Hz does not come cheap as it's only really the 3D screen that have it. But if you can fork out some extra cash I would go 120Hz.

Other than that, solid build!!

Replying to get some help building a PC [Quote].

Your Current Specs: I am using my loltop mostly, desktop PC broke lol.

It really isn't ideal for gaming, so yeah, look to build a new one.

Budget: R5000 to R7000 (excluding a monitor for now) Not the biggest budget in the world but yeah.

Main Use: Gaming [Dota 2, HON, WOW MOP, D3 etc.]/General Usage.

Monitor Resolution: I have a monitor at home at the moment, Dell one, think the resolution is a bit bigger than 1600x900. Sorry at work so I am not too sure. I will be buying a new one in a month or 2. So yeah, any additional recommendations on monitors would be much appreciated.

Are you going to re-use any parts?: No.

When do you need your build by? : No real rush I guess.

Are you going to overclock? : Probably not.
