Is there anyone here that has this car? I took delivery of mine on Saturday afternoon from our local Hyundai dealer. Really love the car, however, there is something that is bothering me. On the remote key there is an option to unlock the boot, and as per owners's manual, you need to hold it in for longer than 1 second to unlock. This does not work like that on my car. In order to unlock the boot, I first need to unlock the car, and only then I can unlock the boot? This sort of defies the purpose. I would like feedback from other Elantra owners about how it works on their cars? Thanks!

you probably have the same remote as me with my i20, if you hold that button down for like a second or 2 the boot will unlock, then when you open the boot it will unlock the other doors.

kind of pointless anyway i just normally hit the unlock button

I don't have the elantra I have the I30 but I would imagine that the key locking systems are all the same in all the huyndai's. when you press the boot button only the boot shoould unlock. If you press the unlock button all the doors (including the boot) will be unlocked anyway.

You might find that the remote is not set 100% correctly and may just need to be reprogrammed again. I would take it back again and ask them to fix it.

Strange my boot unlock buton on my remote only unlocks the boot and all my other doors are still locked (Just actually tested it to verify after reading this) :D

yeah so does mine, but as soon as you open the boot the rest unlock.

Yeah, I think that the programming on mine was not done correctly. If I want to store a few parcels before continuing shopping, I do not want to open up all the doors just to get access to the boot. I will take it back to them to re-programme.

lol

sorry i just dont get it as even if it worked like mine once the boot is unlocked it would unlock all the doors once open, and besides you will still have to lock after anyway.

either way you are pressing one button before and one after.

On the Elantra, when you press the button to unlock the boot, it physically "pops" up the "boot", which is what I want. It does not only unlock the door. I will then have access to the boot without opening all the other doors.

I did not physically see it, but was told of this feature by the sales person. Also, it is stated as such in the owners manual.
