RIM launches software to accommodate Apple users

Not sure why you'd want to do that. iOS and Android work better with Exchange than BES & BB devices.

the moment that they do that, then all bb users will switch over to the iphone or android devices

they already are :). at least charging for bbm on other devices would have brought them some revenue...
bbm's focus into the future is on business anyways, not the youth market, as their ceo recently stated.

I totally agree, they should sell BBM subscription to Android and iOS, hell they can even sell the BIS service, before Onavo move into a BIS like service

Onavo is a VPN like service that compress your data between the phone and their networks reducing the 3G data use: (Currently Free)
Onavo for Android https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.onavo.android.onavoics
Onavo for iOS http://itunes.apple.com/us/app/onavo-data-usage-get-more/id423545287?mt=8

RIM could simply supply a hook into there existing BIS networks and charge subscription fees same as they do with Blackberries, but nooo the company wants to fail by the looks of things

Well ****, they have done pretty well for themselves in the youth market in SA.

Its only because of the static price for data. and as I pointed out above, one that can easily be taken away from them if they not careful.
