Default Mweb 1mb Uncapped or Openweb Gold/Silver??

    Hi,

I am looking to get a new ISP for a line that has been installed, which service provider is better to get for large downloading and also for PS3 gaming/youtube?

Which option has less shaping on the line?

    Downloading what?

I had Openweb and wasn't happy, and it doesn't help that it can use the IS backbone. MWeb has been fantastic for me so far.

A lot of people seem very happy with OpenWeb Gold, so if you're willing to fork out the money, try that out.

I used to be on OW Gold. Amazing speed (backbone dependent for your needs) and support. Only reason I left was I couldn't continue to justify my needs with the pricing.
I'm on Mweb now after a brief shudder with WA (let's not go there) and it works well

The downloads will mainly be torrents and downloads via the playstation network.

Thanks for the input to the Openweb Gold, also not sure if i can justify the price difference for my means. I've just heard bad stories with the shaping that Mweb applies to their lines on torrents.

To be honest, I've had shaping on Mweb during the day on torrents (but that is to be expected).

Otherwise, at night and over the weekends its solid. I've downloaded 87Gb at home via torrents and normal surfing and downloading so far this month - with 257638GB in March alone without any complaints, hassles or other issues with MWEB.

They are (in my opinion) the best value for money and performance offer out there. I'm proud to be an MWEB customer
