    Question Local Dynamic DNS providers

    Hi

Does anyone know of local dynamic dns providers like Dyndns. I only have local access and need to update via a software client.

    Thnx

    Default

    Get an account from XDSL.co.za

Every account with them get's free dynamic dns, without you having to run a DDNS client, or anything.

E.g. yourname.xdns.co.za is updated everytime you login, without you having had to do a thing.
    Boom....

Yes due to excellent work done by TheRodent on our Radius server all accounts have a live DNS entry.

Thanx but could I use a client to update because I already have an ISP? Are there any dyndns style providers in SA?

I also have a "local only" account and my dyndns updater works fine. I have an IS account (from openweb) and though the international access is too slow to browse once capped it's still enough for the dyndns updater to work.
Visit antibody-software.com for free software to check your ADSL usage, split local/international traffic between 2 ISP accounts, free proxy server and more.

    Question

Could anyone else verify if these IS local only accounts do have throttled international?

I know this is an old thread, but can someone shed some more light on this? I'm currently using DynDNS functionality provided by my Netgear router, and I would like to know whether this will still work with a local-only account from WebAfrica (either IS or SAIX).

    Thanks!

There is www.dyndns.co.za. I have some problems every now and then. But those minor frustrations I can live with.

Any idea how to setup the local DYNDNS. I get this error “Server did not send salt”
I don’t c any sample files that explain everything. Pretty much in the dark and can only assume things, been trying everything and bout to throw the towel in.
I have tried all the DYNDNS client software with no luck. Can sum1 plz post version software that they know works with dyndns.co.za. And maybe a brief description how they did it

Which ISP are you using for the local only accounts?

Switch to OpenWeb as they also offer IS accounts and their accounts have a dyndns service. Their price will most probably be better than the brandedinternet prices.

I am aware of Open-Web they are an good ISP, but life isn’t always that straight forward, Most of my customers don’t want to change there email.
Question is how2 get the local DYNDNS working. Ells I think I am not going to stress to much since most ppl agree there is enough bandwidth for NO-IP or DYNDNS.ORG to update on a local cap. Thanks anyway

I am currently trying to implement my own solution, because I have similar needs for local dynamic dns, many of my clients need a service like this, they are using local only, and need a common name to resolve to for support and other services being run from their premises.

It is still in the trial phases but I am getting good results, I just hope I can make it viable, I am currently carrying the costs of hosting and bandwidth myself and I am trying to figure out a costing model but it wont be much I just need to cover my expenses, as this is more of a value add to my customers than part of their current service...

Is there a need for a service like this in the broad sense? If so what would a reasonable amount be to charge? How much will people be prepared to pay for a dedicated local dynamic dns service.

Pm if you want more info...
    ADSL Status:Mweb 1Mb Uncapped. Telkom 2Mb adsl
