    Question Dealextreme.com

    www.dealextreme.com

    Anyone bought anything from there?

They ship worldwide, for free, but they send it in the normal mail...

I have bought a few small items...hoping the package will make it all the way here.

They have all sorts of stuff. A lot of crap, but some value.

Bought a couple of things. Always arrived but took 3-4 weeks. Still cannot believe their prices, especially when shipping is included.

I've bought from them before. Takes a long while for the package to arrive, but was well worth it. Got two Kingston Class 6 32GB micro SD cards at half price during their Black Friday sale.
Will definitely buy from them again when I need some arbitrary presents again :-)

If it's small enough it comes straight in your postbox. no customs.

How small does it have to be?

I've usually found items that can fit in those A4 size brown envelopes bypass customs. Don't count on it though.

    Fair enough.

Well I ordered my stuff last weekend so I'll keep this updated as to what arrives and when.

I've ordered a couple of times from them. Averages 3-4 weeks if customs don't hang on to it, else you can end up waiting an extra couple weeks.

I've got a letter that the PO sent me with my last package that was held at customs. It states that:

Any private individual in SA is allowed only two gifts per year with total value not exceeding R400 each. If it exceeds the R400, then that person will forfeit his/her gift allowance and the parcel becomes fully dutiable. ... therefore full duties and VAT or only VAT will be applicable.
So it depends how good a record SARS/SAPO are keeping of all your international mail and it's worth.

Ordered from them too.. Its always better to order items individually... Since each item would be under R400... Jence avoiding any customs.... and since its free shipping they cost the same..
Oh, and always use your PO Box.. I found the items arrive much faster that way.
Looking to import stuff? PM me...

I've ordered a few times without problems.

    BUT

I've been waiting for my current order since Feb 2012.
    Customer service response :

    'Dear customer,

We apologize for this long delay in the delivery process.

We have requested China Post (mto@chpo.gov.hk) to track this package via offline methods. Please contact us after 2 weeks when there may be a result from the post office. Thank you for your understanding and patience.

    Yours sincerely,
    Ailsa'

Bought from them on numerous occasions, everything has arrived normall about 4 weeks. Order in small quantities at a time, seems to work best.

Make sure you read the user reviews of the items.

DealExtreme is fantastic for buying stuff that you just want to play with - especially if you don't care about arrival times. It really can take anywhere from 2 weeks to 7 months (a pair of earphones I ordered took 6 1/2) so by the time stuff arrives, it's like a present that you forgot about.

They just launched their new site I think and if you want some expert advice, check out the (very) long thread about buying from them here.

P.S. Don't buy lasers as they have no filters and don't buy lighters as they're known to explode.
